So much for clean underwear

Lately, I've been taking a shower at night, after Fly is in bed. I like feeling fresh as I settle into the sheets, and the water helps me relax at the end of the day.

I've been feeling pretty good about myself and this pregnancy. When people ask how I am, that's what I usually tell them -- "pretty good." I am thankful because despite my little pregnancy annoyances, I know it could be much worse. I was reflecting on this as I left the bathroom after my shower when the Sneeze of All Sneezes came out of my head. This wasn't just a loud "ACHOO!" It was more like a full-body earthquake. I'm certain it registered on a Richter scale somewhere.

And then I realized it had happened.

I, um, lost control.

I wet my undies!

I thought this wasn't supposed to happen until after childbirth?!

OK, let the Depends jokes come forth . . . .

At about this time of year when I was pregnant with my little guy and teaching I thought my amniotic fluid was leaking. I immediately called my OB's office. They told me to come in. Panic mode come in at my school. The assistance principal (a nun) would not let me drive my car to the doctor. She made the nurse of the school take me in my car and followed us in her car.

Of course you know what happened right, yup my bladder leaked. My amazing teacher bladder was gone thanks to the two pregnancies. Little do they tell people about this charming fact, especially after when you get sick and have a really bad cough. Ugh!

Lots of hugs and sympathy for the wet undies club ;)

I'm laughing--hopefully with you and not at you! You do have a fabulous way of making the not so glamorous side of life funny. It's a wonderful attribute!

coughing, sneezing, laughing, crying, dancing, even lifting a heavy laundry basket-all activities that make me question how old my bladder really is. Because surely I'm not old enough to need depends yet!

I had the same problem when I was pregnant with my second. Thankfully after the second trimester it was a lot better. The pantyliners are enough to keep clean and dry but not feel too padded.

I love that you blogged something I don't really even wan to think about... :) With all the wonderful things about having children, no one warned me that after birthing three children, sometimes I really whould wonder about investing in Depends... and I'm not even 30 yet! I should write a book of warnings to the unsuspecting young mother... :)

I have to admit that thus far I have avoided any pee leaks, but I'm anticipating that they'll come post-baby. Sigh!

First time mom-to-be doing her Kegel right now as a result of your blog. Luckily I haven't had a tinkle yet (27 weeks) but just like everyone said, "pee" just happens.

I began having the tinkle troubles around week 20 and I still (15 month old clinging to my ankles) have to clinch during sneezes. It's fun.
