What I'd Wear Wednesday: Monochrome
What I'd wear today if I could: an outfit like this one by Ralph Lauren, in white silk. Easy and breezy. Looks comfy. And mono- chromatic outfits are supposed to make you look taller.
Speaking of looking taller, though, I think I'd go with less-dressy shoes than the sandals in the picture -- say, like a wedge or espadrilles. (Espadrilles seem to be everywhere, by the way. Have you noticed? Or is it just me?)
I know there are perils to wearing white, especially when you're a mom, but I've mentioned before I don't think it's that big of a deal. Certainly not any more of a big deal than the khakis I wore today, which by 5 pm had been pocked with bubble solution, strawberries, dirt and grass. (The green kind that grows to make a lawn.)
All in a day's work.
Do you ever wear all one color?
PS: Jodifur wins the Jamba Juice gift card giveaway I posted about last week to celebrate one year of WIWW. Yay!

Unless you count a dress, I have never worn only one color. I think my body needs a break, although if someone could truly convince me that I would look taller, I might try it. The closest I've come is dark jeans with a navy blue top, but the top is lighter than the jeans and so there is still that break. But the truth is I have no fashion sense and for me, just getting out of my pajamas each day is celebration enough.
And yes, espadrilles do seem to be everywhere!
That's a cute outfit on the model, but I wouldn't be daring enough to wear it. White tends to wash me out.
I do, however, like the monochromatic look with other colors.
I do on occasion. Sometimes I get an a mood and wear all black. It feels so crisp and clean to me and of course there is also that noted slimming effect.
All black usually, but sometimes in the summer, I branch in to all white. Of course, when I wear a coordinating sweatsuit, then I am wearing all one color too-- you know, the ones with the pants and jacket that match.
great blog! i tend do do the all black thing a lot - especially in winter time.... :o)
and yes those shoes are popping up everywhere! ;o)
I cannot *just* blame it on the children, I avoid white because I cannot for the life of me not slop on myself when wearing it. Plus when wearing a white top I feel like I am back to my waitress days in university :)
Great outfit for someone who isn't chasing two toddlers around! I do a lot of chocolate, stains don't show as much...
I can tell you live somewhere (mostly) warm because I'm imaginging how that outfit would look, right now, against my outrageously pale, depths-of-winter, goosebumpy skin.
It looks nice in the picture, though.
I rarely wear all one colour. Sometimes I will do all black, but not often (see 'pale' reference, above).
White is in! All year round. I would wear that, sans baby of course! If I wear too much black, I add some color like today a pink scarf!
looks sooooooo comfy!
I would be chilly in that today!
those short shorts are too much for me;)
Cute on the model, though
I would wear that outfit today, as well. I'd blend in with the snow!
I like color too much to only wear one color at a time.
Today, I bravely wore a white-ish sweater over some cute jeans. I noticed I had baby goo and graham crackers mashed into it by the time we got to the children's museum at 10 am.
C'est la vie.
I like it! I do wear monochromatic outfits especially black ones.
It is cute, but I think the model makes it look tall. I think even if the outfit is "monochromatic" I would still look short.
No color is safe. I popped home at lunch and fed the baby. He spit up on me and I had to change my shirt. Spit up shows up on lack, too!
Love the shirt, but my thighs would blend in with the shorts.
I am, well, rather pale.
As for wearing only one color? Yes, I do. Black. Because it makes me feel a couple of pounds thinner!
I don't do monochrome, but I wear a white top or a white bottom nearly every day. I'm known for it, and as a mum, it's often commented on. I don't *do* black, but white suits me, so I do it lots.
Helps to have a non-messy kid though ...
I don't know if I am very mono-chromatic. I mean, I generally only wear blacks & browns & jeans. But I DO try to mix those three so I'm not TOTALLY boring!
yeah me! Thanks.
And Damesfly so nicely changed it to starbucks since I don't have a jambe juice anywhere near me. Got to love those lattes, expecially now that they will do them skinny.
White on white looks good here. I like the idea of monochromatic!
And, yes those shoes are everywhere, and I still have a hard time saying that darn word!! ;)
Can I please have this model's legs, which are about the length of my entire body?
Love this look.
If I could look like her in this picture I would whatever color it took. Even if I had to change it 3times before I left the house.
I've always envied those women who can wear an all white outfit, whenever I try to wear all of one color I just feel blah TJ Maxx
That is very nice. I know that I could not pull of all white (I spill, I'm too chubby, my 2.5 yr old touches me!) but I would if I could!
Now all black, I can pull that off! lol
TJ MAXX :)
