What I'd Wear Wednesday: Fancy jewelry
What I'd wear today if I could: this starfish necklace by Tiffany. It's just perfect. It's a beautiful shape, it's casual, and yet it's Tiffany. If I had it, I might never take it off.
A friend was telling me how her husband had bought her some jewelry from Tiffany in the past few years, and I was just like, "!" Really? I was so impressed. I thought the little blue box place was all about engagement rings and cocktail necklaces with large stones and stuff. So I was surprised to find this beachy necklace. I've been in a beachy mood lately ... and who really wants a jellyfish hanging from your neck?
But you know what? Even though I sometimes like fancy things, I'm really not a fancy girl. I'd take a knockoff. Any old silvery starfish necklace would be fine. And Mother's Day is coming....
Do you have a favorite piece of fancy jewelry? (Or do you like to say joo-ler-ee?) Or a knockoff?

I'm a knock off girl myself. I like my rings to be real and everything else fake. That way when I ultimately lose it, I easily move on.
Sean bought me a Tiffany necklace in 2002. I loved it for how it made me feel like I hadn't grown up poor, hadn't been the girl always longing to have new clothes, just once. It represented an arrival of sorts. I wore it once to try it on and then he took it in one day to have a link added. It was stolen from his desk at work, never to be replaced. Something in me has always wondered if for some reason the universe just didn't want me to have it.
I really like necklaces but don't have anything worth anything. Nor would I really want something worth something. Most because little someones like to lose something and anything. :-)
I am a Tiffany's girl...with two toddlers pawing at Mommy all day, that means my jewelry stays in the box:(
Funny, I bought this for myself about 5 years ago. Not expensive at all (at least back then), and it is absolutely one of my favorite pieces of jewelry. It's just a silvery necklace...not that fancy at all. But because it's a Tiffany's necklace, there is something about that that makes it feel a little fancier. I grew up near and at the beach, so it's a nice reminder of my favorite places. You should splurge and get yourself one. If memory serves, this type of T's jewelry isn't that expensive.
ok wow! Just went to the site from your link and OH MY GOSH! These things are WAY more expensive than they were 5 years ago. I bought mine for about 45 bucks in the Tiffany's store on fifth ave. Now they're a wopping 195 or more! Still....Mother's Day is coming....and you deserve it. Drop hints like crazy woman!
That necklace is awesome - love it. The older I get the more I love real jewelry. I have some goprgeous rings and a few really swishy necklaces but I alos like my funky $40 pieces too...
How freaked was I to open your page and see the necklace that is currently around my neck??!!!
It's gorgeous, I can vouch ;)
What a pretty necklace. I love silver or white gold (the only white gold I have are my wedding rings, but I still love it).
On our 18th anniversary my hubby bought me a sapphire and gold ring with diamond chips. I love it, Love it, LOVE it!
Since I was 18 when we got engaged and married and he gave me a ring on our 18th, I always joke that he'll have to buy me a pretty ring every 18 years!
Oh, that is just lovely!
I seriously love this.
My own fave -- a silver locket Hubs gave me several years ago. I've got tiny pictures of my babies tucked inside.
