Newbies on the doodies

Let this day go down in Fly history.

He made a poo in his potty.

Ta-da!

We only just started trying (after reading the Montessori method is to start toileting between 12 and 18 months, when the child shows an interest) -- and it could totally be a fluke or beginner's luck, and I don't expect Fly to do it on a consistent basis -- but it's a landmark anyway.

What I really want to know is, er, um, what do you do with the potty after it is, ahem, used? Right now I've got it soaking in the kitchen sink after disposing of the solids . . . ? Right along with Fly, oh, I am such a newbie . . . .

I am so, so jealous. Michael is 3 on saturday and has no, no interest. That kid is going to kindergarten in a diaper, I am convinced.

I apparently need to investigate this method. The Boy is 15 months next week and he is doing strange things...

Congrats on the poo!

Awesome! My Primo uses the big toilet. Apparently the little potty is just a toy, so I can't help you there!

Wow! Fantastic! Apparently, I should pull out the potty I bought for Isabella last month. I haven't read anything about potty training so far, so I've been hesitant to try. Go, Fly, go!

Nice work! Hunter is STILL working on it, very unsuccessfully, I might add.

Good job, Flybaby!

Lydia is day time potty trained--she's just 2. When she uhm...goes, I just fill the potty up with water, dump it in the "big potty", then wipe it out with a clorox wipe. And there you have it...

I've heard of people using coffee filters in there before... seems like it would work. Congrats on the milestone!!!

Wow, that's awesome!

We used ammonia wipes (Clorox/Lysol/Kirkland brands). Gotta keep it simple and fast.

Wow...I can't even imagine potty training. We're having so much fun in discovery of clapping and making a sound after which I think is supposed to be "Yay!" Oh and full blown peek-a-boo...what else is a baby to do?!

Yay for Fly!

I always used vinegar and baking soda to clean the potty. We just switched from the kind you have to dump and clean to the mini toilet seat you put on the big toilet seat. I like it so much better.

I can't believe I just wrote all that about a potty. On Friday night. What did I do before I had kids?

I guess being pregnant and then having a child during the potty training period left me lax. I didn't disinfect that often.

I would just dump it into the toilet and then put a pump of the antibacterial foaming handwash in. Swish, wipe, and rinse. And done.

Keep it simple.

But then again I don't freak out about shopping carts, things that fall on the floor, or crawling on the floor, either!

I agree with the the dump, rinse and use a clorox wipe or a quick shot of disinfectant.

I've been toying with the idea of potty training. DO WE really have to clean out the poop out of that potty chair?? Where do you pour the poo out?? THe toilet?? EWW! Not ready!!

Congrats! It is so exciting to think about being out of diapers. Lexi showed signs at that time too, but I had no interest in dealing with it while I was pregnant. However, I did run out an buy a potty. I held off on making it an issue until 2 months ago & it is going well. Anyway, congrats on the first step!!!
