Not a girl, never a woman
Wow! Thank you, everyone, for your incredibly touching and supportive comments on yesterday's post. It really means a lot to me. Because of your comments, I feel a little less than crazy....

But today, I am confused.
First, a test.
This is a (check one) boy or girl
And this is a (check one) boy or girl
(I know you saw these pix yesterday -- I'm too lazy to post new ones.)
Three different people today -- people I don't know, out in public -- referred to Fly as a girl.
Is it time to lop off his little curls in the back? Get him a tattoo? Let him run around a bit dirty and smelly?
Shame he's too big for this....

All boy. Can't see how he could be mistaken for a girl.
totally boy, I agree. Some people are strange, though... Susannah is dressed in ALL PINK and people will still ask how old my son is. Ummm... sorry. Nope.
Harry got called a girl and I cute his curls off the next day. I wish that I had stood stronger and kept the curls.
The truth is, you can never tell when a child is little whether it is a boy or girl. Some folks can't even tell if they DO wear clothing that screams the truth.
I took our first born in a stroller to a small town celebration. She was wearing a pink dress with pink ruffly bloomers and a pink sunbonnet. She had sweet little ruffly dress socks and cute little soft leather (ok, vinyl - we couldn't afford leather back then) maryJane dress shoes.
A lady came right up to us, smiled and said, "What an adorable baby! Is it a boy or a girl?"
Sheesh!
I remember taking Hannah out as an infant ALL IN PINK FLOWERS, and some man called her a boy. People are clueless sometimes!
As long as the kid is wearing boy clothes, it is the people's mistake. I would DIE for those curls.
sometimes it doesn't matter what you do, people will call your children the wrong gender. I just don't get it.
Roll with it - people are dumb.
It won't be long before he's correcting them himself, in a disgusted little voice.
In the meantime, you could try Freezer-paper stenciling your own version of that t-shirt. It's really easy !!
If you're unsure, i've left instructions on my blog:

Have fun ! :)
Keep that baby's curls! He is totally all boy. Not even for a second would I mistake him for a girl.
My son is nearly 3, and people still constantly mistake him for a girl.
He has curls too. I love them. So I vote for NO HAIRCUTS!
hum i could tell FLY was a boy - plus your posts. And i figured the cutie pie with Red curls was YOU!
and NO!!! don't cut off his curly locks!!!
No! No! No!
;o)
He looks like a boy to me.
My little girl got "boy" all the time, even before the bad haircut! People: if the jeans have pink flowers on the bottom, it's a freakin' girl!
I'd cut his hair and get his some boy clothes at TJ Maxx :)
I understand your pain I truly do. On the oh so rare occasions that I venture out into the world with my twins I am sure to dress them in pink and blue head to toe and yet, without fail someone in TJMaxx always, always compliments me on my two beautiful boys. C'est la vie.
PS. I am a member of Team WhyMommy too, (GO WHYMOMMY!) but for some reason I cannot get the code for the button. If you have it please chuck it my way.
