A diaper? A cake? A diaper cake!

Look what came in the mail for me today!

It's a beautiful diaper cake from Diaper Cakewalk! Isn't it pretty? The owner knows I'm not finding out the sex of my baby, so she sent me a gender-neutral diaper cake. Thank you! I'm still sick, so this was a nice highlight in my day.

I've truly never seen diaper cakes up close and personal before, so this was a cool gift to receive. And I can see that it would make a great new baby gift for someone. I am thinking this would be fun for the daughter of a friend who just found out she's expecting her first baby. It would make a cute centerpiece at a baby shower.

Look at the cute bunnies! The top one is a pacifier holder, the middle one is a wrist rattle and the big rabbit on the bottom plays a song when you press its chest.

The diapers are two different sizes of Pampers. Very clever. It's almost too pretty to use!

Don't fear the fetishists! Oh, the outrage!

eBay is really working hard at being ridiculous and at making me mad!

I tried to sell some of Fly's very well-cared-for cloth diapers, and eBay removed my listings, saying:

"Due to hygiene concerns, eBay does not permit the sale of used underwear. This includes, but is not limited to:

- Boxer shorts
- Panties
- Briefs
- Athletic supporters
- Cloth diapers"

Huh?

Does eBay really think a mom is going to come crying to them when she finds out she has just purchased a cloth diaper that another child has used -- Gasp! -- when the auction clearly says it's a used diaper? Any mom who is looking to save money by buying used cloth diapers knows exactly what she's doing -- it's a great way to save money. How is buying and using a used cloth diaper any different from dressing your kid in used swim trunks, is what I'd like to know. (And why are used panties verboten, but used bras are A-OK?) (EWWW!)

Besides all that, commercial diaper services take your dirty diapers, wash them, and bring back clean, used diapers that were likely on another child's butt. So the idea of using pre-owned cloth diapers -- especially the really nice, expensive ones, like all-in-ones or pocket diapers -- isn't new.

Hygiene concerns. As if.

I went poking around online and found a huge outrage against eBay's anti-used-cloth-diaper policy. There's even an online petition to get eBay to change its policy.

But this mom may have figured out eBay's real reason for not allowing used cloth diapers -- it's pretty creepy, but it's to cut down on fetishists. (Um. I don't even want to know what a grown person would do with a little diaper that barely covers your hand.) Still, she says, "why punish a community that aids in reducing, reusing, and recycling?" Amen, sister!

Fortunately, in my indignant searching, I found a couple places online where you can buy/sell/trade cloth diapers (including used ones! eBay!), at MyUsedDiapers.com and DiaperSwappers.com.

The funniest thing is I was still able to sell some of Fly's diapers that eBay didn't catch.

Take that, eBay!

This teething toy doesn't cut it

Dear Sassy:
If you're going to make a teething product, make sure that when babies are cutting teeth they're also not cutting your products.
What is this plastic stuff made out of, anyway? How many chemicals did Flybaby ingest before I saw the purple bit on his tongue and snatched it away?!
BTW, Sassy has yet to respond to my message about this from two days ago.... Good thing my baby didn't choke or something.

Lucky me

I -- er, Flybaby -- won a Giggles bib from The Opinionated Parent! It's a clear vinyl with a cute goldfish theme. The pocket catches spills during mealtimes. It's great!

You can win stuff from The Opinionated Parent too. There are giveaways all the time.

Thanks, TOP!

It's a Par-tay!

Tomorrow is the start of the weeklong Blog Party, and I'm so excited! Did I mention I'm looking forward to this? Well, clearly I need to get out more. Believe me, I'm trying.... I hope to blog every day of the party and offer up some bloggity goodness. Come join me in the party! Click on over to the party and sign yourself up because the prizes look amazing, including a prize offered by moi! Yes, free stuff, people! You got nuthin' to lose.

So as I mentioned, Flybaby is growing out of some things, and JP's mom MM said he'll probably need a new carseat soon.

And she's right! At 19 pounds, he's been gaining two or three pounds a month since he was born. I can't believe it's already time for a new carseat.... And because we have the Graco Snugride that snaps into a stroller, we're going to need a new stroller, too.

Now, I have my eye on a carseat already. But what stroller do you recommend? I'd appreciate your help in finding new wheels for Fly.
