Talk about riding your ass
Guess what? I have a post at Rookie Moms today. Well, sort of. I entered a contest they were having -- I didn't win, but they were kind enough to put my entry on their site today. Thanks, Rookie Moms! I have been reading their blog since I was pregnant.
My post is about taking part in re-enactments, which JP, Flybaby and I did for a Christmas re-enactment in which I rode a live donkey as Mary, Jesus' mother (thus the cheeky blog post title!).
Fun!

You guys look so sweet in that photo!
p.s. My hat's off to you because there is no way I would have been riding a donkey one month after giving birth. Ouch. :)
I love the title of your post. That is great idea.
Congrats! That's fantastic!
Congrats! How exciting!
Wow! I just saw Nativity Story the other day and all I could think about was Mary riding that donkey while 9 mo pregnant and then in labor... owowowowow.
AFAICT there is no donkey mentioned with Joseph or Mary in the Bible, and I’ve seen a handful of opinions that culture would dictate Joseph riding any donkey anyway.
Tradition versus scripture, scripture cops it in the ear yet again. So much interesting stuff gets taken down that way.
Can’t speak from practical experience, but I can imagine that being 9 months gone & trekking across 10s or 100s of km on a donkey would be kind of unforgettably painful. I don’t recall any expressions of pain from Mary on the day, so I guess we can definitely count asses out of reality.
