Eight months old!

Flybaby is eight months old today. Happy birthday, Flybaby! And I almost forgot. Someone at the library today asked me how old he is, and I said, "Almost eight months," as I have been in the past week or so. Sheesh. I'm sorry, Fly.

Flybaby has six teeth now. I'm not sure how big he is, but he's somewhere around 29 inches long (high?) and around 21 pounds. He can pick up little pieces of food and feed himself.

Fly's getting on his hands and knees and rocking. He doesn't crawl yet -- but he's the best at pivoting that I've ever seen! Between pivoting and rolling, he can move several feet within minutes!

Also -- and this is where you, my dear blogging friends, come in -- he hasn't been a good sleeper. Nighttime is one thing. But naps have been hard to come by. Without naptime, I can't really get my blog reading fix.

I'm not ignoring you. I'm just watching a roly-pivoty baby who won't nap.

Oh, er, he's napping now.

What a gorgeous picture. I imagine that's how he gets away with the non-napping - by being such a cutie!

He is absolutely adorable. Six teeth! My daughter turns 8 months next Monday and she's only working on her 3rd. I have the opposite problem-she sleeps for naps (sometimes) but wakes up at night constantly. So, sadly, I don't have any advice that I should be doling out, but a whole boatload of sympathy.

Just darling!

Love the photo.

(Even though my 4-year-old no longer naps, she still has "quiet time" in her room while her brother sleeps. Quiet time is my weekend sanity saver.)

My mother-in-law once told me that my sister in law didn't sleep through the night until she was 18 months old. I thought she was full of it . . . until Jacob and Bridget came along. Bridget STILL hasn't slept through the night, and she is 22 months. AND she only takes about an hour nap each day. ON. MY. LAP. That's how I get my blog reading done. I feel your pain!

Congrats on such a healthy, beautiful boy!! PS - He weighs as much as Bridget!!

Awww... happy 8 months, Flybaby! What a gorgeous boy he is.

And six teeth already! Wow!
Isabella is 8 months too, and she doesn't crawl either. She's a roller and a pivoter just like Fly.

Isabella is a pretty crapper napper (generally speaking) as well. She sleeps maybe 45 minutes to an hour in the am, and then about one hour-ish in the pm. Of course yesterday she knocked my socks off when she took 2 (yes 2) two-hour naps. But that has never, ever happened before, and probably will never happen again. :)

What a cutie! He's bigger than the Beast and she's 17 months today! I don't know what to tell you about sleeping, my babe doesn't sleep. Ugh! She does take naps though, so that's good!

That picture is beautiful (and the baby, too)!

Just keep putting him down. Don't give up easy. Maybe he just needs to learn to get himself to sleep on his own.

Start a naptime routine. A couple fo books, rocking, singing. Just something that cues him that its time to chill out for a while.

He is so cute I can't stand it! Wow, I remember those days when you are waiting desperately for a sanity break and when it finally comes you feel like you get to finally breath.

Eight months, really? It seems like yesterday you had him. By the way, he's cute and quite the happy camper despite the nap problem.

My only advice is if he wakes too soon, let him fuss/cry. He may fall back asleep. Time yourself, it may only take him a couple minutes to fall back asleep. (To you it will seem longer when it's really only been a few minutes if he's crying.) If it goes longer than five minutes, then you have to decide how to address the situation. Some people believe in letting them cry it out. Some believe in going in and just patting the baby's back for reassurance and then leaving. Decide which way to approach it, and then stick to it/see it out. If you're consistent, it should only take a couple days before Flybaby learns how to put himself back to sleep if he wakes too soon. Good luck.
